Developer Preview of Mac OS X Lion

Apple today released a developer preview of
Mac OS X Lion, which takes some of the best ideas from iPad and brings them back to the Mac for the eighth major release of the world’s most advanced operating system. Lion features Mission Control, an innovative new view of everything running on your Mac; Launchpad, a new home for all your Mac apps; full-screen apps that use the entire Mac display; and new Multi-Touch gestures. Lion also includes the Mac App Store, the best place to discover, install, and automatically update Mac apps. The Lion preview is available to Mac Developer Program members through the Mac App Store today, and the final version of Lion will ship to customers this summer.

Some apps from the App Store offer the ability to purchase auto-renewing subscriptions. If you’ve purchased an auto-renewing subscription from within an eligible app, it will be listed under the Manage App Subscriptions section of your Account Information Screen.

Apple Gets a Grammy (Sort Of)

Peter Kafka reports on All Things Digital that Apple enjoyed a “tiny bit of Grammy glow” Sunday night when, for the first time, “something recorded exclusively for its iTunes store won an award.” Writes Kafka: “Train’s version of ‘Hey, Soul Sister,’ which won the ‘Best Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals’ category, first appeared on the group’s ‘iTunes Session’ EP last fall.”

iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows

If an iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch is not recognized in iTunes on Windows, the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) may need to be restarted. Alternatively, you may see the following error when connecting your device:
"This iPod cannot be used because the Apple Mobile Device Service is not started."
